Merseyside giants Liverpool could not extend their winning run to nine games in all competitions at the end of their Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday after they were forced to a 2-2 draw. The Reds had been on a winning run spanning eight games before they faced Antonio Conte and his Spurs side.

Liverpool had to battle back to turn the game on its head after going down to the 13^th minute strike from Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane off the assist from Frenchman Tanguy Ndombele. The England international has found it hard to score goals in the Premier League this  season and the opener from the Liverpool game was only his second goal of the season in the league. Kane was lucky to stay on the pitch afterwards following a lunge on Liverpool left-back Andy Roberson. He was given a yellow card by centre referee Paul Tierney. The tackle from Kane on Robertson didn’t do much damage to the Scotland international left-back who produced the assist for the Liverpool equaliser on 35 minutes. Portuguese attacker Diogo Jota was the recipient of the Liverpool leveller for his 10^th league goal of the season.

Liverpool took the lead for the first time in the game when Trent Alexander-Arnold found provided the assist for Robertson to score on 69 minutes, but the lead lasted for five minutes thanks to the mistake from Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker. The Brazilian international committed a huge error and that paved the way for Son Heung-Min to score the second Tottenham Hotspur goal on 74 minutes. Robertson was then sent off three minutes later for a foul on Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal as the Reds had to play the final thirteen (13) minutes with a man down.

The draw with Tottenham Hotspur ensured that Liverpool are now three points adrift of leaders Manchester City after a run of victories in six league games and two Champions League games.
