Klopp Angry At Penalty Decisions
Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp is unhappy with the penalty decisions when they played Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday. The Premier League fixture started slowly but the second half was heated especially in the final ten minutes.
Referee Jon Moss gave Spurs two controversial penalty decisions that helped them play out a 2-2 draw. Dele Alli was booked for simulation in the first half as the youngster sought to help his side equalize a Mohammed Salah opener.
Klopp opines that the decisions of the match officials influenced the game against them. The German tactician said: “The result is massively influenced by decisions, always we have to take it. did you ever hear [referees explain their decisions]?” Klopp said Moss admitted to making a mistake with his decisions but was frustrated that nothing could be done.
“A situation like that in the last minute you have to be sure, but [Moss] wanted to be in the middle of interest and here he is,” Klopp added. Victor Wanyama equalized to make it 1-1 with a stunner. Moss pointed to the spot after Reds keeper had minimal contact with Harry Kane. Kane could not score as Loris Karius saved his kick. Salah scored an individual goal to almost win it for the hosts but a last minute penalty changed the ending. Defender Virgil van Dijk clashed with Erik Lamela in the box and with the linesman’s help, the referee pointed to the spot for a second penalty kick within minutes.
Kane buried the goal this time to score his 100th in the Premier League. Coach Mauricio Pochettino and Kane have praised the decision of the refereewhile the Reds have condemned it.
